Americans do the Strangest Things …
There are some reasons why many Americans consider themselves and their country to be unique :
- America’s founding
The American democracy was founded on a set of beliefs that were seeing during the Revolutionary War. Among them was an idea that makes all people are created equal, whether they are European, Native American, or African American, and that these people have their fundamental rights, such as liberty, free speech, freedom of religion, due process of law, and freedom of assembly and such things were noticed. America’s revolutionaries were openly discussed these concepts to bring a change.
Its about whether or not the US has remained true to this foundational vision may be a matter of debate, but the fact remains that the US was created to be the openly and most liberty-minded country on the planet, and many Americans still consider it this way only. And which, as far as they’re concerned, makes the United States unique in right direction.
- America’s status
Americans, mostly the educated ones that work in investment banks, are very positive thinkers, friendly nature and tolerant people. They are also great team players to work with. I only have positive things to say.
And it’s not surprisingly difficult to feel unique when you’re a citizen of the most militarily and economically powerful nation in the world.
- Americans talk to strangers at the supermarket
It’s just an American thing that you can relate. I know in many countries people like to ignore small talk with strangers, and can be seen as strange, or even uninvited, but here in the US it’s friendly banter to while away the time, or just to interact with somebody. Often they do realize you’re not from the US they may also be a bit curious.
- Americans like to Hug
Most of the times that Americans tend to stand far apart (by their standards), stretching out a hand for you to shake. And then at sudden when you least expect it, someone will give you a great, tight hug.
- Americans make everything so big
“You know, there are no such thing like small eggs in America. They just don’t exist. They tend to be jumbo, extra large, large or medium. It doesn’t matter that the medium (eggs) are little.” I heard many foreigner to their experience .
And it’s not about only the eggs that are large, they also have big houses, big streets, huge distances, very large food, humongous portions, gigantic soft drinks , extra-large products, XXL packages, jumbo everything.
